The three primary colours


We are often asked, not only by art educators, which are thethree primary colours within the assortments, for mixing withonly these three colours a various and individual range of brilliantcolours.

Often, the answer is very simple, as in our AKADEMIE® and College® assortments the colours are named accordingly:

  • Primary yellow College yellow
  • Primary magenta or College magenta
  • Primary cyan College cyanFor the premium assortments, it isn't as easy.

Here, the colour name often has a historical origin, is based on chemical ingrediants (e.g. Phthaloblue) or is a description of the colour shade (e.g. Ruby red).
