Mediums
Schmincke offers an extremely wide and professional range of mediums for all techniques of painting and all types of paint. Combined with the high quality Schmincke artists’ colours, artists have almost limitless opportunities to use the colours professionally and to influence the results according to their own taste, taking into account the technical possibilities of the individual mediums.
The Schmincke painting mediums have been developed by our laboratory in compliance with the particular requirements of the colours, and are highly valued around the world for their high quality and the wide range.
Mediums often require explanation and there are a several things to be aware of when using them. To help beginners as well as professional painters understand what each medium is suitable for and how it is used, every medium has detailed and user-friendly explanations.
How to find the right medium?
All mediums are sorted according to their application: From ground treatment (all types) to variety-specific options for changing the colour properties (painting medium, pastes, etc., sorted by oils, acrylics, watercolours, etc.) to the individual final treatment (all types).
