Mediums in the spotlight: Casein binding medium* (50088) in 500 ml

Experienced, but also adventurous artists appreciate the option of self-grinding their own artists’ colours. The Schmincke assortment therefore contains many products. Besides the ready-to-use-binders for oil, acrylics, watercolours, gouache and Linoprint, there is one special binder for self-grinding casein colours and casein-tempera. It is a dilutable with water medium, which dries to a wiping resistant film, but remains water-soluble. For different casein colours and casein-temperas it will be mixed with oils and/or resin.

Schmincke as a producer of highest quality artists’ colours always must keep in mind the different needs of their users, whether professional painters, beginners, students ore others, to supply them with ideal products and quality. The brand Schmincke is a quality constant amongst artists in the whole world for their premium series. Besides those, we have one series in our program – the College® in a fresh stripes-design - which is especially made for beginners and price-conscious frequent users. The College®-series contains the following assortments:

  • College® Acrylic with 36 colours + 5 mediums
  • College® Oil with 24 colours
  • College® Linol with 5 colours

College® assortments are reliable basic assortments in student quality, which are distinguished by a good lightfastness, a good miscibility, an uncomplicated application as well as practical container sizes. All colours do not contain animal products and are available separately and/ or as a set. For those, who want to enlarge one’s colour assortments, Schmincke offers with the AKADEMIE® range more coloristic and quality options. Of course, all College® colours can be mixed and combined with the appropriate AKADEMIE® colours as well as with the other correspondent Schmincke assortments.

Analog to our College® series, our longtime partners in brushes and paper, da Vinci and Hahnemühle, brought out a College® series for artists’ brushes and paper. Thus, beginners as well as price conscious users can always be sure to use quality brands made in Germany.

Lightfast 2 - October/ November 2017

Dear friends of finest artists' colours!

When the days are becoming shorter and your heat is still full of beautiful summer impressions it is time for increased creative activities. You could - for example - at last grind your own artists' colours - with our Casein binding medium for a casein tempera and the pure Schmincke artists' pigments. We will explain how this works.

Or you take a chance and try the grisaille painting technique (hopefully not analog to the autumn grey outside) - the German artist Dirk Schmitt shows us step by step how he works.

For those who want to know more about good and price-conscious artists' colours (and brushes and paper) - we will present the College® series.

Have a good and inspired time!

Your Lightfast-Team
