NEW: Videoclip

All three systems provide also white and black. With these you can lighten (with white) or darken (with black) all colours, the pure ones as well as the mixed ones.  Thus, you will get an almost uncountable range of colours. And the results are – thanks to the outstanding quality of AKADEMIE® Gouache – always brilliant and intense.

All 30 AKADEMIE® Gouache colours are available in 60 ml tubes and in 250 ml bottles. The set (72210) contains 10 colours in 60 ml tubes, the set (72010) contains 8 x 60 ml and the small set (72205) 5 tubes à 20 ml.

The 3-colour-system

When mixing each two of the three primary colours primary yellow (205), primary magenta (315) and primary cyan (410), you will get clear secondaries: orange, green and violet. Of course, if you vary the mixing ratio, you will achieve several colours in-between.

The 5-colour-system

The 5-colour-system bases on the 5 colours primary yellow (205), signal red (303), primary magenta (315), ultramarine (405), primary cyan (410). When mixing the neighbouring colours, you will achieve an orange, a green, a blue, a dark violet as well as a dark red. When you mix all 5 colours, you will achieve a neutral, dark grey.

The 6-colour-system

The 6-colour-system needs the following 6 colours: primary yellow (205), vermillion (220), primary magenta (315), violet blue (320), primary cyan (410) and green (505). When you mix the neighbouring colours, you will get 6 more brilliant colours. The 12 colours make a whole colour wheel.

The knowledge on mixing colours and thus creating an uncountable colour variety is a basic skill for a painter. One cannot repeat often enough how important it is to know – also practically – how to mix colours! Based on this, you will understand the coloristic correlations and open new options for colour creating in your artworks.

In art theory, there are different mixing systems to know. The most common base on 3, 5 or 6 colours plus additionally white and black. The AKADEMIE® Gouache assortment contains all colours which are needed, separately as well as in a painting box with 10 colours, which is specially created for several mixing theories.

Der LINO-Retarder (50906) is a ready to use retarder for linoprint colours in 35 ml and 120 ml. With the LINO-retarder you can extend the open and printing time of the colours.

The LINO-Retarder increases the transparency and the gloss of the colours.  The mixing ratio medium to linoprint colour should be at least 1 part medium to 1 part of linoprint colour. The medium is based on gum arabic and is not water-resistant, like the Schmincke linoprint colours aqua linoprint and College® linoprint. Please clean working tools as soon as possible with water and close the medium immediately after use.  Store in a cool and dry place, protect from frost. Individual pre-tests are required. Contains gum Arabic, additives and water.

NEW: J.H. Watercolour Wheel – Creative product of the year 2018

The hottest acrylic trend for spectacular results is ideal for beginners as well as for experienced acrylic painters. For this technique, acrylic colours will be mixed with the so called Pouring medium and thus enhances its flowing properties to make it suitable for this technique. Layered colours will be poured, in one or in several steps, onto the painting ground. You will achieve bizarre colour flows which hardly can be controlled. We will show you step by step how it works and what you will need.
