• Schmincke aqua LINOPRINT colours: Titanium white 100, Carmine red 325, feel free, try other colours, e.g. Indian yellow 220, Chrome oxide green 530, Silver 810
• Possible Schmincke LINO medium: 1x LINO-CLEAN (50 903) or water for cleaning
• Hahnemühle Nostalgie paper 190 g/m² in DIN A4 (21 x 29.7 cm)
• 2x glass plates to roll out the colours
• 3x rollers (2 for different colours and 1 for rolling over the paper)
• Linocut knife: 1x cutting knife 1 mm width, 1x flat cutting knife 3 mm width
• Lino plate or print block (from Factis)
• Transparent paper for drawing
• black fine liner, hard pencil, soft pencil or charcoal, copypaper

Make a sketch of a rowanberry umbel with a black fine lineron transparent or copy paper. Place the transparent paper on the finished drawing and draw all dark lines and fields with a soft pencil or charcoal.

Place the transparent paper with the pencil/carbon side on the print block and transfer the graphite of the pencil or carbon onto the rubber plate using a hard pencil. Don't be surprised: The template now appears mirror inverted.

Carve away all dark lines with the thin cutting knife, then the larger dark areas with the flat cutting knife. Anything that is raised will be printed (letterpress). The plate is now ready for printing.

As the first colour, roll out carmine red on the glass plate with the roller. There should be an even, thin layer of paint on the roller. Use the roller to colour the print block with an even, thin colour layer. Place the paper to be printed on the printing block. Now roll over the paper with a clean roller for a successful colour transfer or printing. Sometimes it takes several attempts until the resultis perfect. For series production, print the desired number in one go. Now let the print dry and clean the print block with water and possibly LINO-CLEAN.

After the first print has dried, roll titanium white onto the second glass plate and then onto the printblock with the roller. Place the first print slightly offset on the print block and press the paper with the clean roller. Now pull off the paper carefully and enjoy the unusual double print. You might also want to try out other colour variations.

Of course, you can also print on coloured paper or photo cardboard. This allows you to produce whole series of individual greeting cards yourself - a beautiful and personal idea for Christmas and other festive dates!
