Linoprint Mediums

In principle, both aqua-LINOL printing inks in artist quality and College® lino printing inks in study quality can of course be used directly on suitable substrates such as paper or cardboard. However, the addition of LINO Mediums enables additional optical effects: Depending on the medium used, they make the printing inks more transparent, glossier or give them an iridescent pearlescent effect. The effect depends on the amount of additive added and the colour tone of the lino printing ink. In principle, the more LINO medium and the darker the colour tone, the clearer the effect. All three LINO Mediums are mixed undiluted into the lino printing inks. With LINO gloss (50901) and LINO pearl (50900) there is also the option of
possibility of adding accents by printing separately. Just like our lino printing inks, they dry smudge-proof but not waterproof, have a low odour and can be mixed with water. Note: The addition of LINO Mediums extends the open time of the printing inks slightly.
The same applies to the storage of all LINO Mediums as for Schmincke printing inks: Protect from frost.

TIP: Even though all printing blocks and tools such as the glass plate, printing roller, painting knife and brushes
can generally be cleaned with water, we recommend special cleaning with LINO CLEAN (50903) from time to time. If you want to rub your lino printing colours yourself, we recommend the lino binder ‘Ready-to-use’ (50850). If you are looking for a final treatment for your prints, we recommend the universal fixative (50401).
